New Starters

A very warm welcome to all our new children, parents and carers!

Welcome to our new starters information page. We understand the mixture of emotions involved in your child starting school, whether it is your first or fourth child, first day in year R or a mid-year transfer. At Grange Infant School we would like to help take some of the pressure off by providing you with as much new starter information as possible.

Transitioning into Year R

From September 2023, we will have two Year R classes at Grange Infant School.

Applications for Year R places open at the start of November each year and close mid January. During October/ November time we offer tours to explore, understand the background of the school, meet the staff and for you to ask any questions you may have. For guidance on how to make an application select the ‘about us’ tab and select ‘admissions’. If you would like any support in making your application, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
We are more than happy to help!

Once your child’s school place has been offered by Hampshire County Council admissions team; which is usually around mid April, we ask that you send us the paperwork evidence; which will be outlined in your offer email/ letter and complete and return an admissions booklet. This booklet allows us to gather vital information from you regarding your child which allows us to make the transition into school as smooth as possible. If you have any concerns or worries, although we have an open door policy and more than happy to help over the phone, email or even popping into the school office, some people find the booklet a nice way to communicate with us. You can find a copy of the booklet below; although once the place has been offered we will reach out to you via email to get a copy sent over.
